Sporting students to compete in the sun
Some of the College's top sportsmen and women will be competing against rivals from universities and colleges around the UK, at an annual sports festival in Spain this week.
Around 180 competitors have headed out for the seventh annual Calellafest - a national inter-university sporting event in the Spanish town of Calella, on the Costa Brava, where they will take part in hockey, football, rugby and netball matches.
The sporting spectacle began in 2000, with UCB as one of its founding members, and it attracted 3,500 competitors from around Britain last year.
As well as the competitive games, the week will also feature social activities in the evenings, and an exclusive excursion for our students, which will either be a catamaran cruise or a trip to Barcelona, depending on the weather.
Guild president Anthony Sargent said: "The Calellafest is always one of the highlights of the year for those who take part, both for the social side and the chance to play competitive sport.
"Our teams have done well in the past, and I hope we’ll be able to give some of our rivals a good run for their money this time as well."
