FE Discretionary Bursary Scheme
The UCB FE Discretionary Bursary Scheme is available to learners who are resident in England and studying any full-time, Further Education course (Level 1,2 or 3) at UCB.
The UCB FE Discretionary Bursary Scheme is split into 3 main categories:
‘Mandatory’ Bursary Administered by the Attendance Team, in liaison with the Student Services Department - those students aged between 16 and 19 who are identified as vulnerable (i.e. children in care, care leavers, those on income support or with children of their own etc.) will receive a guaranteed Bursary of £1200 per academic year. Bursary payments will be made on a weekly basis, at a rate of £33.33, and are subject to satisfactory general attendance and behaviour criteria.
‘Discretionary’ Bursary Scheme (DBS) Administered by the Attendance Team, in liaison with the Student Services Department - those students whose household income is less than £20,817 per annum and who satisfy strict attendance and behaviour criteria may be eligible for Bursary payments of £20 per week up to a value of £720 over the academic year. Please contact the DBS Co-ordinator on 0121 232 4179 and see the DBS Student Guidance Document for further information about the scheme.
‘Hardship’ Bursary Administered solely by the Student Services Department - those students whose income falls between £20,817 and £30,810 are eligible to apply for specific 'hardship' support, although the provision of actual support, or its level, cannot be guaranteed.
PLEASE NOTE All financial support given under the Discretionary Bursary Scheme is to support students in their studies at UCB (e.g to cover travel costs and basic course materials etc).
