We offer a comprehensive package of support and expert advice to students and alumni looking for graduate opportunities, part-time work while studying, seasonal work during the holidays or internships.
- Jobshop provides access to a wide range of vacancies aimed at the student and graduate labour market. This online facility ensures students are able to access up-to-date vacancies at any time, where ever they may be.
- Unitemps is our in-house recruitment agency based in the hired@UCB suite. Our recruitment consultants proactively source part-time and seasonal positions for students and alumni, providing a matching service, managing the advertising, shortlisting, interviewing and payroll arrangements with local and national employers. For more information please visit www.unitemps.com
- Internships: We support students who are keen to gain work experience through internships and also offer Employer Internship Grants to encourage employers to offer additional internship opportunities for UCB students.
- Volunteering offers a way to gain valuable work experience that fits in around university studies. It may be an on-going, part-time role with a local charity or the opportunity to work overseas during the summer holiday. An Employability Tutor dedicated to volunteering is available to provide information, advice and guidance on the available opportunities.
Bitters N Twisted Venues runs eight successful bars and restaurants in Birmingham and Worcestershire including Bodega, Island Bar and Marmalade bistro bar at Birmingham Rep. The company originally approached us at the end of 2014 to place adverts for chefs on the Jobshop online service.
We invited Operations Manager, Steve Bould to talk about how the Employer Engagement team could work with Bitters N Twisted Venues. We discussed the company’s unique selling points and developed an advert promoting the kitchens’ use of fresh foods. We used images of one of the restaurants, Bodega in Birmingham, to promote the vacancies on digital screens throughout the University.
Four students were subsequently taken on to fill the chef roles.
