UCB Higher Education Bursary
The UCB Higher Education Bursary can provide students with a grant of up to £1,624 which does not have to be repaid*. The amount awarded is based on a student's household income, unless the student is in receipt of a Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), in which case the award is automatic.
You are eligible to apply if you are a UK/EU national, studying a full time undergraduate course charged at the variable tuition fee rate (£3290 for 2010/11).
Applying is easy. The Student Loan Company administers the Bursary Scheme on the behalf of UCB, so when you apply for financial support through the Student Loan Company you will be automatically assessed for the Bursary, providing you have disclosed your household income and submitted the necessary documentary evidence requested in the application. You must also ensure that you and your parents do not tick the box on the declaration pages that state "you do not wish your details to be shared"; as this will prevent UCB from paying you a bursary.
New full-time undergraduate students enrolling in 2010/11 are eligible to apply for the following awards:
-
Students in receipt of a Disabled Students Allowance will receive a Bursary of £1624 per year **
-
Students with household incomes of £25,000 or less will receive a Bursary of £1080 per year **
-
Students with household incomes between £25,001 and £42,516 will receive a Bursary of £648 per year **
-
Students with household incomes between £42,517 and £60,032 will receive a Bursary of £384 per year **
* The Bursary is a cash award that does not have to be repaid providing the student completes the academic year.
** Bursaries are not paid for the period a student is on placement as UCB does not charge a tuition fee for periods of industrial placement.
