Tuition Fees for Part Time Students
Part-time Higher Education student fees and support package.
As you may know, the College aims to improve access to part-time higher education courses by providing bursaries to pay student fees. The Government has announced a new package of support for part-time higher education students and this changes the way in which your fees are paid and how much a College or University can charge.
The Government's scheme, which will apply to both new and existing UK/EU students, offers for those whose income is below certain thresholds and who are studying the equivalent of at least 50% of a full-time course:
-
Help with tuition fees up to a maximum of £1,230
-
A possible grant of up to £265 to meet the costs of books, travel and other course expenditure (this is based upon household income)
-
Students with a disability may also be eligible for a Disabled Students Allowance
-
The bottom line is that, using bursaries, the College will not charge tuition fees for part-time courses during the 2010/11 academic year
However, to benefit from this bursary scheme you must:
-
Not be undertaking an equivalent or lower level qualification (ELQ)
For more detailed information please visit the ELQ page.
You will be given an application form for government aided assistance when you come to enrol.
Once the form is completed, bring it to the College during your third week of study and we will complete our section of it. You should note that failure to complete and send off this form will result in you personally becoming liable for payment of the full tuition fees due.
The College remains committed to enabling people to enrol on our eligible part-time higher education programmes without paying fees, and we guarantee that we will pay any the remaining costs of your tuition fees with a bursary, once you provide the Finance Office a copy of the letter you receive.
