Terms and Conditions

The Scholarship and Fees Advisory Committee decides who will be awarded a scholarship based on the application submitted. No other information is required or will be considered. The decisions are based on a judgement about academic achievements, sporting achievements, references, evidence of voluntary work done, etc. as relevant. However, there are a limited number of scholarships and so not all eligible applicants may receive an award. Scholarships will only be awarded where an application merits this and there is no requirement to allocate all scholarships each year. The Committee’s decisions are final and there is no appeal mechanism. Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to provide reasons for not being awarded a scholarship.

No applicant will be offered more than one scholarship in any one year. The period of time the scholarship is offered for is clearly stated and not extendable. scholarships are non-transferable and may not be deferred.

The scholarship is awarded solely for the individual named in the Committee’s decision. UCB will not be responsible for any scholarship holder’s dependents. The scholarship holder, not UCB, is fully responsible for any dependants and UCB accepts no liability in this regard.

All scholarship holders should be in good mental and physical health and must advise the Registry of any medical conditions they may have, even if they believe this will not impair their progress on the programme.

Note that scholarship holders will be required to show originals (not photocopies) of transcripts and documents submitted in evidence with their scholarship application. If any documents turn out to be false, the scholarship will be immediately withdrawn. No liability for any costs incurred by the scholarship holder will be accepted by UCB.

It is the scholarship holder’s responsibility to act with reasonable diligence, including attending all required classes and submitting all required assessment. The UCB Code of Practice on Reasonable Diligence applies to all scholarship holders and failure to adhere to this Code may result in UCB demanding repayment of the Scholarship.

Those in receipt of a scholarship are also subject to the UCB Disciplinary Code and contravention of this may result in a demand for the immediate repayment of the Scholarship.

All scholarship holders agree to allow the Registry to share certain data (name, course, student ID number, institution, etc. as required) with other parties within UCB. We reserve the right to use this information in the promotion of UCB and in any other student recruitment and/or Scholarship promotion activities. We may also use information collected regarding the awards of scholarships in our marketing activities; although addresses will never be given out. We may feature information about you on the UCB website and/or other publications and will normally ask for your permission/approval prior to publishing this.

UCB reserves the right to make reasonable changes to this scholarship scheme at any time and will advise recipients of awards of such changes as and when required.

Important: Additional conditions and requirements are made for many scholarships. Please see the details in each category of this scheme.
