Academic Excellence Scholarship

In each academic year:

  • 6 Academic Excellence awards - Up to £1000 off the cost of tuition fees, for one year only

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

These scholarships are open to applicants from any country. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academic achievement.

Applicants must have accepted an offer of a place on a full-time taught programme at UCB and the chosen programme should be of at least one year's duration and normally lead to an academic award at Higher Education level. Applicants must not previously have been enrolled on the programme concerned, previously been enrolled on a FdA programme at the College in the same subject area (if entering the final year of a first degree programme) or have previously received a scholarship from the College.

The award of an Academic Excellence Scholarship is subject to any necessary visa clearance by the UK immigration authorities. An offer of an Academic Excellence Scholarship will be made to successful applicants and this offer may be used where necessary as evidence to the UK authorities of certain costs being met. However if a visa is not permitted the Scholarship will be withdrawn and there is no automatic reconsideration at any future point.

Applications Procedure

Applicants must complete the standard application form. Ensure that the category of scholarship applied for is clearly noted and provide full documentary evidence of academic excellence with the application. Evidence of Academic Excellence may include outstanding achievements in study (substantially in excess of that normally expected of students), support for an institution (for example through outstanding levels of commitment to supporting or working with fellow students) or the completion of a highly regarded research activity.

Application Dates

Although there are a limited number of scholarships in this category each year, applications can be considered for entry in Semester 1 (Late September/Early October) or Semester 2 (Late January/Early February). Only those applications made by August 31st for Semester 1 starts, or December 31st for Semester two starts will be considered. Please note that applicants offered a scholarship for a Semester two start will be awarded half of the scholarship against semester 2 fees and half of the scholarship against their subsequent semester 1 fees.
