Tourism Destination Management MA / PG Diploma

With continued growth in the tourism industry, the issues of destination competitiveness, sustainability, and positioning in increasingly complex national and international markets, inevitably arises. This demands planners and policy makers within destinations capable of managing tourism resources effectively, devising new innovative tourism products and services and in marketing destinations.

What will you study?

This specialist Masters degree aims to prepare individuals to be operationally and strategically effective in the administration and management of tourism destination organisations, and also to be appropriately prepared to undertake continual professional development using a range of intellectual and study skills. Specialist modules include

The dynamics of tourism, tourism destination histories, the international tourism policy and planning environment, destination marketing and tourism planning techniques.

A key feature of the programme is the live industry project , undertaken overseas during the programme for an external organisation, which involves students directly applying skills and knowledge developed in the programme to a tourist destination.

How long will you study?

PG Diploma: Normally one academic year
MA: Normally one academic year plus up to six months for dissertation
