References
In order for us to fully process your application and consider you for a place we need a reference from your employer, or if you are currently involved in a placement rather than full time employment, from the person responsible for you there.
UCB looks for three points in a reference; first it must give an insight into your character and give an impression of how well you work. This is to give the programme manager an insight into how well you are likely to respond to the programme of study and to assignments you will have to complete over the two and half years of the course.
Secondly we need to know that your employer has given permission for you to study the course, because our programmes are conducted in afternoon and early evening lessons so you will need to be able to leave work for half a day once a week. As a result it is imperative that we know that your employer knows this and has agreed that you can have this time away from work.
Lastly, for childcare programmes, we need an assurance that you have a current and valid CRB record.
