Professional Studies in Childhood MA

This Masters Degree has been designed to develop and enhance knowledge and professional competence for those who possess an undergraduate qualification in a related field. It is suitable for those who are already working in a relevant education or childhood setting, or who have recent experience or study of this. For those aiming for management and leadership posts, having evidence of post graduate study is often an essential prerequisite when short listing candidates and a firm current grounding in theory and research can complement your existing practical experience.

The programme aims to further develop an advanced knowledge and understanding of issues related to childhood, including those of welfare and education, as well as encouraging a critical awareness of current issues and new insights in the area of the student's own professional practice, with a view to the improvement of organisations that provide services for children. This course will necessitate the further development of high levels of transferable skills, an ability to deal with complex issues and the application of skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation to the research and study of Childhood theory. You may also explore issues such as management and leadership in childhood organisations and strategies of coaching and mentoring.
