Tourism Business Management BA (Hons) / FdA
Tourism is a growing and highly competitive industry in virtually every country of the world, creating a demand for managers who possess appropriate knowledge and skills to succeed in the dynamic market place.
These degree and foundation degree courses adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of tourism as a business activity, with the emphasis focusing on the management and marketing of commercial tourism activity.
The School of Recreation, Sport and Tourism enjoys excellent links with the industry and funds residential field visits in the UK and overseas during the first two years so allowing business and management theory to be explored in practice.
Working with a local tourism organisation, Students undertake a live marketing project as a compulsory part of their programme, whilst opportunities also exist to undertake an optional 48 week placement.
Opportunities exist to take modern language studies throughout the programme, whilst a host of overseas international study exchange programmes exist in Europe, South East Asia, Australia and the USA for which students are eligible.
Previous graduates of the degree and foundation degree course in Tourism Business Management now work for airlines and other transport providers, tour operators, visitor attractions, in conference and exhibition centres, as consultants and in education.
