Food and Consumer Management BSc (Hons) / FdSc

Strong public interest in food, health and nutrition along with increasing attention given to consumer rights, product liability and food standards, has promoted commercial demand for a new type of manager – one capable of advising consumers and companies on such important issues. These programmes will develop the specialist technical and creative skills essential to this task.

Well developed links with industry are reflected in the design and delivery of the programmes. A strong industrial focus and industry-led projects give students the opportunity to develop the skills essential within the modern food and consumer environment.

The food and consumer industry offers a wide range of careers destinations, whether designing and developing new products, marketing, retailing and publicising food or working in consumer services or education, these programmes will give you the relevant skills.

Former students are employed in food product development, flavour technology, food selection and buying, marketing management, health promotion, consumer advice, retail management, merchandising, category management, food journalism and food technology teaching.
