Early Years Placements
You will be expected to complete a placement as part of both the BA and FdA Early Childhood studies.
Employers are looking to recruit staff with the right combination of skills, experience and specialised knowledge. Irrespective of what you study, you will be at a major advantage when applying for a job if you have had some real experience of the working environment.
All our courses include opportunities to get valuable work experience, and the majority of these are real jobs with real responsibilities.
In total, around 2000 students undertake some type of placement or work experience each year, with the Industrial Placement Centre arranging the majority of these. Staff from the Centre work very closely with students on an individual basis, in order to find the best match between their aspirations and the requirements of the placement provider.
Both FdA and BA Early Childhood Studies will have 4 periods of placement over first two years of the course, this will need to be completed before you can gain your professional status at the end of the BA.
You will complete a portfolio linked into modules studied in years 1 and 2; The reflective and professional practitioner.
The Placement Team will try to tailor placements to suit students needs and career aspirations.
