Early Childhood Studies BA (Hons) / FdA
The childcare sector is rapidly diversifying and there is a growing need for highly trained staff who are knowledgeable, flexible and adaptable.
These Programmes aim to provide students with a high level of academic knowledge and practical skills in the development and education of young children. It also concentrates on helping them develop important management skills with children.
The College's close contact with the childcare sector means a wide range of placements are available and expert placement officers ensure that placements and students are well matched and student progress is closely monitored.
Those completing the BA with a satisfactory placement report in each setting will also achieve Professional Practise status, which enables them to work in Early Years settings as a qualified member of staff. The course has been approved for this purpose through the DfES.
There is scope to work within child-related organisations in the state, voluntary and commercial sectors within fields such as education, welfare, leisure and advocacy.
This course is covered by a Code of Professional Conduct and Fitness to Practise .
Students who wish to teach will be able to apply to the PGCE (Early Years) at UCB directly from this degree course.
