Level 1 Diploma Bakery

Course Content

This course is designed to provide opportunities and enable students to gain an understanding of the bakery industry whilst developing bread and cake-making skills. Students also develop strong practical skills in cake decoration and sugar flowers.

Assessment

As with all of our bakery programmes, you will be assessed on a continuous basis, within a commercial bakery environment.

Progression

Student Succesfully completing this programme can progress on to the Level 2 Bakery course.

Career Opportunities

With the bakery, confectionery and patisserie industries enjoying a new boom, completion of this award could lead to employment with a commercial bakery or a fine confectionery manufacturer or a career within the hotel and catering industry.

Year 10 and 11 pupils interested in a career in bakery have the chance to take part in a Junior Academy.

Level 1 Diploma Bakery 1 year Full Time

Entry Requirements:
No formal entry requirements are needed, although you should have good levels of literacy and numeracy combined with the commitment and enthusiasm to succeed in the industry.

Maintain personal hygiene standards in food manufacture
Work effectively in food manufacture
Prepare tools and equipment for use in food manufacture
Select, weigh and measure bakery ingredients
Finish craft flour confectionery
