Conditions of Acceptance

Should you become a student at University College Birmingham (UCB), this notice will constitute a term of contract between you and the College. Any offer of a place made to you by the College is made on the basis that in accepting such an offer you signify your consent to the incorporation of this notice as a term of any such contract. This website describes courses offered by UCB. Should you become a student of this institution you will receive further documents describing the teaching, examination, assessment and other educational services offered.

The College will use all reasonable endeavours to deliver courses in accordance with the descriptions set out on this website and in those further documents. However, the College reserves the right to make variations to the contents and methods of delivery of courses, to discontinue courses, to merge or combine courses and to vary fees, if such action is reasonably considered to be necessary. If the College discontinues any course it will use its reasonable endeavours to find or provide a suitable alternative.

Should industrial action or circumstances beyond the control of the College interfere with its ability to provide educational services, the College undertakes to use all reasonable steps to minimise the resultant disruption to those services.

The College cannot accept responsibility, and expressly excludes liability to the full extent permissible by law, for damage to students' property howsoever arising or for the non-return of work submitted for assessment, or for the consequences of any modification or cancellation of programmes. The College excludes liability for infection of students' equipment caused by computer viruses, and for the consequences of any such damage. Sporting activities are undertaken at students' own risk and the College accepts no liability for personal injuries or death except in so far as the same is caused by negligence of College staff. If false, incomplete or misleading information is provided by a student or if circumstances relevant to a student's admission change prior to enrolment, the Principal reserves the right to refuse admission and to require the student's withdrawal. In particular in circumstances where, in the Principal's view, it is not in the best interests of, or to the maintenance of good order in, the College for the student to be a member of the College.

All students will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and to submit to the procedures of, the College rules and regulations, as amended from time to time, which relate, among other things, to conduct and discipline, complaints use of facilities, health and safety, administration, assessment and the requirements of academic programmes.

Data on students' personal details (including any sensitive data provided by students), academic and administrative history and on relevant financial transactions will be processed in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act.

Notwithstanding any of the above conditions not being enforced, the remaining conditions will be binding.
