Awarding of Degrees
The University of Birmingham accredits and validates a number of degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. This means that whilst all programmes are delivered by University College Birmingham, some graduates receive their awards from The University of Birmingham .
In 2007 we were granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers following a year-long assessment by the Quality Assurance Agency. The Privy Council of the UK Government gave our institution the powers to award our own Foundation, Bachelors and Masters Degrees.
The programmes offered under the Accreditation Agreement with the University of Birmingham continue, with our new Taught Degree Awarding Powers making it possible for University College Birmingham to award degrees in subjects outside of The University of Birmingham's expertise.
The first of these degrees; in Salon Business Management were awarded by University College Birmingham for the first time in September 2009, followed by BA Early Years Professional in 2010.
