Food Product and Recipe Development
UCB's new BITE (Business Innovations in Taste and Excellence) Food Innovation Facility is available for use by small and medium sized businesses for product and recipe development.
The kitchen facility offers businesses a place to experiment in a managed environment to innovate on a test market scale with little risk involved. This provides a work environment where staff and possibly students can have the opportunity to network with and assist regional food and drink businesses.
Kitchen facilities like this are not easily accessible elsewhere in the region. A full range of kitchen and commercial scale equipment will be available, including marble-topped work surfaces suitable for work with chocolate and confectionery, and a well-lit and AV-linked presentation area.

Businesses can use kitchen themselves with the guidance of a member of College staff, or alternatively businesses may brief the product development chefs at the College, who will undertake recipe development themselves.

Flexible opening times are can be arranged and our service charges are exceptionally competitive.
The College will also be developing short courses in areas of product development of interest to business. Planned subjects include HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), healthy eating and nutrition and craft-specific courses in chocolate and confectionery, meat and poultry, convenience and snack foods, sauces and soups and bakery products as well as business development workshops.
