Profile

At the core of my progression has been a passion for sport, health and well-being and a dedication to supporting the positive development of communities and individuals I interact with.

Across my education, research, volunteering and employment, I have actively sought opportunities to promote sport, physical activity and the benefits achieved through engagement. Captaining and being part of numerous sports teams I have been able to gain teamwork, communication and leadership skills and transfer them into wider life. Evidenced by the 10+ years of sports coaching including rugby, football, athletics, basketball and fitness to a range of ages and abilities. Following my undergraduate degree, I was also fortunate to take on a VL role at the University of Wolverhampton supporting HE students alongside my research on behalf of the English Schools' Football Association.

Working as a physical and mental health & well-being practitioner, I supported young people re-engage with education in both mainstream and specialist settings; using sport as a tool to breakdown mental/physical barriers and develop physical literacy alongside academic skills. As a community sport manager within a school sport partnership, I engaged with key stake holders such as Birmingham City Council, Street Games, Sport Birmingham and Access Sport in organising and supporting the provision of sport, physical activity and nutritional sessions and events for the most deprived in the city.
